What’s in a Name?

Why is a name so important? The dictionary defines a “name” as a word or set of words by which a person, animal, place, or thing is known, addressed, or referred to. But a name is so much more than that. A person’s name is the greatest connection to their own identity and individuality. Some might say it is the most important word in the world to that person. When someone remembers our name after meeting us, we feel respected and more important.

As an owner(s) we were compelled to choose a name that is significant in our own personal life, and this is exactly what we did. The name of our company is ETD Solar Services and ETD Electrical Services. The letters “ETD” is not just three letters put together, but instead they are the heart and soul of these companies. Those three tiny letters are the motivation for each of us to strive for excellence and for every person we come in to contact with to Experience The Difference that our companies can make. We have a personal connection with these three letters, ETD.

ETD is a silent tribute to a great man, Eric Thomas Donahue. Eric, better known as “Ricky” was the step son of Albert Eric Booth. Ricky spent nearly 4 years in the Army and when he was discharged, he returned to his family home and began working as an electrician, like Albert. He personally found fun in everything that he did and thrived on making sure others were happy. Sadly, Ricky was just 23 years old when he passed away in 2018, and for 2 years his family struggled to make sense of such a tragedy. When we decided to start our own electrical and solar companies, we knew that we must pay tribute to Ricky in a way that makes each of us proud, proud of him and proud of ourselves.

Rest assured, our goal is to have and continue to have a successful company(s) that Ricky would admire. So, what’s in a name? Pride, pride is in a name, and desire, desire to be successful is in a name, and finally passion, passion is in a name, passion for this industry and passion to succeed.

We hope that anyone that comes in to contact with ETD Electrical Services and ETD Solar Services will feel as though we give our very best at all times and that our desire to be successful comes through in all that we do.
